Document assistance

Help gathering and checking documents after the death of someone close.

Neatly arranged documents on a desk — a calm work composition

After a death, relatives need a medical document confirming the death and must register it with the civil registry office (DRACS). Without that, arranging burial and applying for burial assistance is difficult.

We help gather and check the document set — so the family is not left alone with forms.

Usually a medical death certificate (form No. 106/о) or a feldscher certificate comes first — issued by a healthcare facility; in some cases, a forensic medical document. Then an application is filed with DRACS. After registration, a death certificate and an extract for burial assistance are issued.

In grief it is easy to miss an extract or err in an application. We explain the next steps in plain language, help prepare what to bring, and accompany you where appropriate. Official certificates are issued by state bodies — we do not replace DRACS and do not invent “special” procedures.

How we help

A short look at the main stages in Ukraine. Open an item to read more.

Consultation and plan

We listen to the situation and explain where to start: which papers you already have, what is still missing, and where to go next. Without rush or pressure — so relatives understand the order of steps.

Medical death document

Death registration requires a prescribed-form document from a healthcare facility or forensic medical institution — including a medical death certificate (form No. 106/о) or a feldscher certificate. We help you see where to obtain it and what to check before the next step.

Registration at DRACS

An application for state death registration is filed with DRACS — at the deceased’s place of residence, place of death, or place of burial. As a general rule — no later than three days from the date of death; if the medical document cannot be obtained in time — within five days. We help prepare the application and accompany you when needed.

Certificate, extract, and next steps

After registration, a death certificate is issued along with an extract from the State Register of Civil Status Acts for burial assistance. Where grounds apply, assistance may be arranged, including through the Pension Fund of Ukraine. We explain which documents will be needed next — for burial or further applications — and help gather them carefully.

Documents for international transport

If someone died abroad or transport from Ukraine to another country is needed, a separate document package is required — for the countries of departure and destination. We explain the requirements and help gather everything needed.

  • Medical documents and the death certificate in the country where the death occurred
  • Translations and certification of documents — including an apostille where it applies
  • Export / import permits and customs formalities
  • Coordination with consular and other competent authorities — when needed
  • Documents for transporting the body or ashes (urn) — depending on the situation
  • Preparing the package to the format required by transit and destination countries

What an international package usually includes

The exact list depends on the countries and direction. Open an item — a short look at typical document groups.

Documents from the country of death

A medical confirmation of death and official death registration under that country’s rules are needed. An export permit is often required too — issued by the relevant local authority. We help you see what you already have and what is missing, without pushing unnecessary steps.

Translations, legalization, customs

For crossing the border, documents often need translation and certification. In Hague Convention countries an apostille may replace consular legalization. Customs and accompanying papers are prepared separately. We check the package to reduce the risk of border delays.

Body or urn with ashes

Transporting the body requires permits and a casket that meets the route’s international requirements. For ashes — a death certificate, a cremation certificate, and urn papers according to the rules of the departure and destination countries. We explain the difference in plain language and help gather what is needed.
